The Company Culture Conversation
Asking, “What’s your company culture like?”, can only get students so far in understanding an organization’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging – values that this generation of students are prioritizing as they make decisions about companies they want to pursue. Upon hearing a broad question like this, employers are prompted to make guesses about the underlying motivation of the question. The Career Management Center helps students and employers connect on a deeper level by sharing 6 key indicators of sustainable DEI practices within the corporate world.
We guide students in crafting questions that will uncover meaningful and substantive evidence of sustainable DEI efforts to empower students in making informed decisions about where they want to start and advance their careers. Our employer guide provides a starting point for recruiters to gather knowledge about specific investments their organization is making toward sustainable DEI efforts. It also prepares employers for deeper questions students are asking to move beyond, “What is your company’s culture?”, prompting more intentional discussions that ultimately foster lasting connections.
