Professional Clothing Fund

This College of Business Professional Development Fund award (a one-time stipend) is sponsored by private and community sponsors/employer partners to support the access of all students in the ability to purchase professional clothing to present themselves confidently during job and internship interviews, career fairs, or networking events.

College of Business undergraduate declared business majors and graduate students facing financial barriers that may hinder their ability to purchase professional clothing.

Students can apply one-time while pursuing their degree for an award of up to $325. *Extenuating circumstances may be considered by the committee for additional awards.

Funds awarded should be used in-full to purchase professional clothing items based on the applicant’s needs.

Receiving this award could have impact on financial aid packages. All students considering applying should contact the CSU Office of Financial Aid to ensure whether this award of up to $325 will have impact on the applicant.

Visit with a career counselor in the Career Management Center for more information and a copy of the application.

Drop-In Hours: Monday – Thursday, 10am – 2pm (Rockwell West, Room 210)

(During summer break, when drop-ins are unavailable, schedule a meeting with a career counselor.)

Students will complete a 2-step application:

  1. Completed Application form with pertinent information
  2. 1-page Essay/Letter of Interest addressing known career goals, how you plan to use the funds, how funding supports your next career steps

If selected for the award, students will be contacted by the Career Management Center. The email will contain information about documentation needed to process funds. NOTE: CSU Student-Employees will receive the funds through their payroll. In this case, funds are classified as income and subject to income tax.

Once funding is received, the recipient is responsible for submitting the following documents to the Career Management Center:

  • Receipts/Proof of Purchase of professional clothing items totaling the amount awarded
  • Thank you note addressed to the sponsors of the fund
  • Closing Essay/Letter (digital copy) directed to the CMC Fund Committee including:
