How would you describe your role to someone unfamiliar with this kind of work?

As a Technology Architecture Analyst at Accenture, I help large companies understand and improve their current technological infrastructure. The easiest way to describe this is to imagine a company’s technology setup as a big, complicated puzzle with many pieces such as software, hardware, databases, and networks. My job is to look at all these pieces and see how well they fit together. By connecting and understanding the needs of our clients, we create solutions that ensure our client’s technology is as efficient and effective as possible.

What do you like about your job/career path?

What I find most rewarding about the world of technology consulting is the endless opportunities the field has to offer! I am passionate about my role because it exposes me to a diverse range of technologies and practices, continuously allowing me to learn and grow as an IT professional. With new technologies and markets emerging daily, it is exciting to be part of a company that actively fosters innovation and change.

What’s one quality or skill that students can develop that’s highly valued by people in your field?

Within technology consulting, networking is a highly valued skill to achieve success in the industry. A common phrase in this field is that “your network is your net worth.” Networking provides access to expertise, facilitates professional growth, and ensures you remain current about industry trends and continuous learning. For college students, developing networking skills is essential. This can be achieved by joining clubs that interest you and, most importantly, engaging with fellow students and professors, leveraging your current environment.

Thinking back on your own job search, what steps were especially helpful?

Looking back on my job search, some of the steps that proved most useful to me were using networking, informational interviews, and thorough research on companies and roles. This allowed me to align my skills with suitable opportunities and firms. I also sought guidance from the Career Management Center. This approach also led me to securing a role that matches my interests and offers growth prospects. I think the most important step in my job search was the informational interviews. These interviews helped me understand what different types of professionals did in their day-to-day.
