Position Summary:
This Intern Position will aid certain business lines and some operational areas to develop a full understanding of the Commercial Asset Management teams’ operations. This position will be responsible for work with the Asset Management team to design tasks, collaborate with team members to get projects completed, possible market research, and additional related tasks.
This internship will last 3 months from around June 3rd – August 30th, with the start date being flexible depending on school schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist reporting manager in the creation and updating of all required periodic reporting including weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting to internal and external business groups
- Assists with the evolution of the company’s proformas, including creating new models and customizing existing models to handle a wide variety of situations, as needed
- Monitors macroeconomic performance fundamentals, comp sets, target markets, supply/demand, economic drivers, as directed, and create reports to easily convey this information to reporting managers
- Review property marketing materials, online information exchange services, and internal and external websites, working with both internal and external teams to ensure property marketing materials and outlets are accurate and current.
- Support the due diligence process for potential transactions including analyzing competitive properties, reviewing market supply/demand fundamentals, analyzing financials, sales and revenue and various other reports
- Assess investment performance in relation to business plan by analyzing operating statements, performing regular site visits and reviewing market conditions
- Learn how to build relationships with brokers, lenders, and third-party groups
- Provide general administrative support for the asset management department, as needed
- Develop strong intercompany relationships with other McWhinney departments, including but not limited to development, finance, legal, marketing and people services.
Qualifications:
- This internship is open to current Undergraduate or Graduate students
- Studying Real Estate, Finance or related field preferred
- One significant internship in real estate development, asset management, acquisitions or finance is a plus
- Basic understanding of financial statements with an ability to thoroughly analyze a property profit and loss statement
- Interest in Asset Management
- The ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects and the capacity to be flexible
- Strong research skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Highly proficient in Microsoft office suite, including PowerPoint and Excel
- Strong interpersonal communication and writing
