We are currently seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team and support the financial operations for multiple business entities and construction projects.
Job Overview:
The Staff Accountant will play a vital role in managing the monthly accounting and reporting processes for various business entities and construction projects. This position will report directly to the Controller and will be responsible for budgeting, project proformas, cash management, internal controls, accounts payable and receivable, and various tax filings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, with proficiency in accounting software and a solid understanding of GAAP reporting requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform monthly accounting tasks for multiple business entities and construction projects, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
- Assist with preparing and maintaining project budgets and proformas.
- Manage cash flow and ensure timely processing of accounts payable.
- Oversee property tax and sales tax filings, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and deadlines.
- Assist in preparing financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP and internal procedures.
- Monitor internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure proper accounting practices.
- Support the Controller with special projects, audits, and other accounting functions as needed.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth and accurate accounting processes for ongoing projects.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (preferred).
- 0-3 years of accounting experience, with a strong understanding of GAAP reporting preferred. (New grads welcome to apply.)
- Proficiency in Sage 100 Contractor, QuickBooks, & Yardi Breeze accounting software a plus.
- Experience in real estate development and construction accounting (preferred).
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to manage competing priorities.
- Solid understanding of business software applications and accounting processes.
Benefits:
- Competitive salary based on experience: $55,000 – $70,000 per year DOE.
