POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a new graduate who would be excited to join a dynamic and highly collaborative team at a growing insurance company as a Staff Accountant. The start date for this role will be flexible to accommodate December 2024 graduates.
The primary responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to) the preparation of monthly general ledger entries and reconciliations.
This position will report to the Oceanview Group Controller and is based in our Denver, Colorado office (in-office 3x/week).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Produce journal entries for the monthly GAAP close based on data received from Oceanview’s investment manager and other internal groups
- Maintain accrued expense file and produce relevant journal entries
- Maintain fixed asset subledger in Oracle; create additional assets as needed and record monthly amortization
- Provide support for the monthly GAAP and Stat reporting process and annual report preparation
- Provide support as necessary to both external and internal auditors enabling the successful completion of internal reviews and controls – conducted quarterly and annually
- Provide extensive project support as needed, including, but not limited to, reinsurance, legal entity, regulatory, and cash transaction analysis
- Productively work with internal colleagues and investment manager team members in the Denver office as well as off-site locations
- Create and maintain internal control policies, processes, and compliance standards
- Keep management informed of any concerns for meeting set goals, clarifying duties, and training development needs that result in greater performance and personal growth
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Dedicated team player with strong work ethic; quick learner, energetic and engaging
- Attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of bookings, payments, reporting, and correspondence
- Willingness to embrace multiple projects and adapt to an ever-changing environment
- Great communication, organizational, and presentation skills
- Experience with Microsoft Excel
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- BA/BS in Accounting or Finance
- Interest in the insurance industry or financial services industry
- Prior internship experience in Insurance/Financial services industry a plus
LOCATION and COMPENSATION:
- This role will be based out of our Denver, CO office
- This role will be Hybrid (3 days per week in the office)
