When employers respond positively to your application (which is always great news!), they may want to schedule an interview right away. Are you ready? If you are submitting applications for internships or jobs, it’s time to consider scheduling with an interview prep meeting a career counselor to be on top of your game when they call.
Some people are naturally good at interviews. But for most people, interviews are daunting, scary, and nerve-wracking. I fall into the latter category. Even though I’m a career counselor and an experienced professional, I’ve learned the hard way that interview practice makes a difference in getting the job.
Benefits of prepping for your interview:
- Learning valuable interview skills, like the STAR method
- Receiving valuable feedback and tips
- Building confidence and reducing your stress levels
If you can articulate your skills and value well, and show up with confidence and authenticity, you have a fighting chance to get the job. You never know what the candidate pool will be like. But you can do everything in your power to present your best self.
